Phase I:  RBPOP School Project

For Phase I ten schools in each of the five districts were selected – Dailekh, Dhading, Lalitpur, Makwanpur and Myagdi – for an initial commitment of five years.

RBPOP approach of holistic development of children has benefitted 116 teachers and more than 70,000 students. 250 students were provided scholarships and partner schools received mini grants of 15-20 thousand as an encouragement to improve their physical infrastructure. SMC and school teachers were provided leadership training whereas primary teachers were provided Skill Development training. Different kinds of teaching materials were also distributed to the partner schools. Some of the visible results in those partner schools were improvement in student attendance, no corporal punishment from trained teachers, student’s involvement in decision making, formation of libraries and availability of books.

RBPOP’s efforts in transforming the education system of its partner schools proved to be an enormously successful endeavor. With this project RBPOP was successful in inculcating child centered teaching and learning environment in the respective schools. Several RBPOP schools have become model schools in their Districts, and some have even received national awards.
