Folding Gauze for Dhulikhel Hospital
Rato Bangala is helping Dhulikhel hospital folding gauze for them. Parents, teachers, students are all welcome. We have been folding gauze since April 30, and will continue to do so for a few days.
Fill the Bucket
You will remember our work with Fill the Bucket after the floods last year. As a community we filled over 150 buckets with essential items for those who had lost their homes. We hope now to duplicate that effort, collecting and distributing food and other goods for those suffering in rural areas due to the earthquake 25 April, 2015.
Please bring a combination of the following items, to be allocated into buckets once you’ve arrived at RBS.
- Rice
- Lentils
- Chiura
- Beans
- Flour
- Sealed bottles of cooking oil
- Salt
- Sugar
- Tea
- Dry goods that don't spoil (biscuits, noodles, dried fruits, etc.)
- Energy Bars
- Water purification tablets (Piyush, Iodine solution, Chlorine tablets)
- Mineral Water
- Laundry soap
- Body soap
- Sanitary napkins
- Medicines (Glucose, Dettol, Cetamol, Jeevan Jal)
- Buckets with lids
**IF YOU HAVE TARPAULINS AVAILABLE, PLEASE BRING THOSE AS WELL.
We are also collecting clothes. If you bring clothes, please assure:
- Clothes are clean and folded and wrapped
- Clothes are labeled with a description of the item that includes size, and intended recipient (women/men or girls/boys)
RBS Alumni Earthquake Fund
Our Rato Bangala School alumni community is global, and many of you have asked how you can support relief efforts in Nepal. RBS alum Aarjan Dixit (RBS 2001) has organized a Rato Bangala School Alumni Earthquake Fund, the link for which is here: http://www.gofundme.com/rbsalumnifund In Aarjan’s words:
Dear RBS alumni and friends,
Some of the alumni of Rato Bangala School have started an earthquake relief and recovery fund for Nepal. The fund will focus on providing relief and recovery support in areas that were hit hardest by the earthquake.
This is a very trying time for many Nepalis. Tents, food, medicines, water are in short supply. Thousands of lives have been lost, many more are injured and the numbers are rising. Our fundraising drive will support local relief and recovery projects. We will ensure complete transparency and make sure that we do our best to identify and support efforts that have the maximum impact on communities that are the most vulnerable and in most need. We are grateful for the support of the Rato Bangala administration, and will work closely with the Rato Bangala team.
Please circulate this to your contacts and networks around the world to help raise funds, and help out if you can. Every amount you put in, however small, will count. Sending materials to Nepal is a logistical nightmare at the moment and in the long run doesn't really help the local economy. Sending funds and resources to trusted partners and organisations is the best way to help for many of you living outside Nepal. Help out please, and share widely.
Please get in touch with me if you want to be part of our effort.
